Nduta Waweru

I paint pictures of you
in the back of my mind,
crossing every turn and fold,
each crevice,
imaginary and real.
I want to keep memories of you
because you are an illusion,
a faded dream I cannot have.

Nduta Waweru is a writer and a poet. She is currently a senior writer at Nairobi-based newspaper The Sunday. She is one of the 2014 Storymoja fellows. Some of her stories have been published by Storymoja, Kalahari Review, Up Magazine and Fresh Paint volume 2. Her poetry has also been featured by the Koroga Project and A Thousand Voices Rising anthology.
